This bagel is certainly the most controversial in our whole selection. When the founders of Bagel Grove, Ed and Carole Grove, signed over the business to the second generation, they made them promise to never make a Bagel Grove Chocolate Chip bagel (a staple in lots of bagel shops in the 90s). However, Annie’s fingers were crossed because she knew that though it defied some sensibilities about the “health” of a bagel, customer demand is a force not to be ignored. Finally, in 2008 the Bagel Grove held a contest for a new bagel to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and the Chocolate Chip bagel was by far the one in highest demand. Loaded with fair-trade semi-sweet chocolate chips, this bagel needs very little explanation… it’s got chocolate! Available roughly three days at a time 4 – 5 times a year.
